Women from across CDC Victoria recently gathered at Mission Whitten Oval in Footscray for the Driven Women Celebration, a special event dedicated to recognising, supporting, and celebrating the women who contribute to our organisation every day.
Bringing together employees from a range of roles and locations, the event provided a welcoming space for women to connect with colleagues, share experiences, build professional networks, and celebrate their achievements within the transport industry.
The morning was hosted by Natalie Hansen, GM People & Culture at CDC Victoria, who welcomed attendees and shared the purpose and vision of the Driven Women program. She also highlighted the importance of the Driven Women Celebration as a dedicated forum for female employees to connect, share experiences, and support one another.
Guests then heard from an outstanding lineup of speakers, including Tanya Steigerwalt, Chief Human Resources Officer at ComfortDelGro Australia, Leyla Asadi, Head of Programs at the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation, and Narelle Liddell, Bus Driver from our Geelong depot.
Each speaker delivered thoughtful and engaging presentations, sharing personal stories of resilience, leadership, career growth, and the importance of supporting women in traditionally male-dominated industries. Their experiences resonated strongly with attendees and sparked meaningful conversations throughout the morning.
Beyond celebrating achievements, the event also created an important forum for women across the business to share ideas, experiences, and feedback with our People and Culture team.
The room was filled with conversation as colleagues caught up, shared stories, and got to know women from across different parts of the business. There were plenty of photos, selfies, and group shots throughout the morning, adding to the fun and friendly atmosphere.
The raffle draw had everyone paying attention, with excitement building as each number was called out. Every winner was met with cheers and applause, bringing plenty of laughs and ending the morning on a high note.
The event aligns closely with the goals of our Driven Women program, which was established to increase, support, and retain female participation across all areas of the business. The program provides pathways into roles including driving, mechanical, operational, administrative, and leadership positions, while also creating opportunities for learning, development, networking, and professional growth. We have committed to increasing female representation across its workforce and fostering a more inclusive and supportive workplace culture.
The Driven Women Celebration demonstrated the value of creating spaces where women can come together to learn from one another, build connections, and contribute to shaping the future of our organisation.
